Services for Detainees

The CSJR is a member of the Association des services de réhabilitation sociale du Québec (ASRSQ) and works in partnership with various organizations which support detainees and ex-detainees in their social reintegration.

For detainees (or ex-detainees) who have been victims of sexual abuse in their childhood wh offer participation in a program called VASE (Vaincre les abus sexuels dans son enfance) for groups of six to ten incarcerated individuals. A series of six to seven weekly meetings offers an environment of open communication that aims at breaking taboos, understanding the consequences of abuse, and finding paths towards healing.

“Pain or human suffering, if not transformed, is transferred onto someone else.” Barry Hart

“Workshops of Healing” are also available on demand (with testimony by a crime victim).

Gilles David, who works as facilitator in those groups, has received the Taylor Award in 2011 from the Correctional Service of Canada for his voluntary involvement with detainees.
